About HHUGS
We support Muslim families in the UK who’ve been affected by national security measures — easing hardship, restoring hope, and rebuilding lives.
The role
You’ll help make our fundraising happen. That means organising simple, effective campaigns and events, looking after our amazing volunteers, and keeping supporter records tidy so everyone gets thanked on time. You won’t do it alone — you’ll have guidance, clear goals, and training where needed.
What you’ll do
- Run campaigns and events from start to finish (Ramadan activities, mosque collections, school fundraisers, sponsored challenges).
- Look after volunteer fundraisers — welcome them, keep in touch, send packs, cheer them on.
- Work with mosques, schools and partners to set dates, book spaces and make sure they have what they need.
- Keep our records up to date (names, donations, Gift Aid) so thanking and reporting are easy.
- Help with simple marketing tasks — short posts, emails, photos, and gathering stories.
- Be organised — use our shared checklists and tracker to see what’s done and what’s next.
- Pitch in on the day — set up stalls, bring banners/leaflets, welcome supporters, count donations.
- Say thank you — send quick, warm thank-yous and updates that make people feel valued.
Occasionally you’ll work an evening or weekend for an event — you’ll get time off in lieu.
What you’ll bring
- People skills: warm, clear communication and the confidence to speak to imams, teachers and supporters.
- Organisation: you like lists, meeting dates, and seeing a job through.
- Care with details: names spelled right, forms complete, donations logged.
- Willing to learn: comfortable with basic spreadsheets and willing to learn our CRM.
- Values fit: comfortable working in a Muslim charity; basic understanding of zakat and sadaqah (or happy to learn).
Nice to have (helpful but not essential)
- Experience helping at community events or in a charity.
- Writing short posts or emails people enjoy reading.
- Driving licence.
How we’ll support you
- Clear goals and simple measures of progress.
- Training on our systems and processes.
- Regular check-ins, feedback and practical help when it’s busy.
