Help me reach my target I'm competing in the HHUGS FIFA Mania Tournament.
For families who need our support, we can be a game-changer.
Raids can literally tear families apart. That’s why I'm trying to help families whose lives have been devastated by detention to find their feet amidst the chaos, at a time when the rest of the community have often abandoned them.
We might have struggled with the lockdown this year but it’s easy to forget that many families in our midst live like this all year round. We can make a difference to families for whom social distancing and isolation is a norm.
Every penny raised by HHUGS FIFA Maniacs like me and donated by friends like you, will allow sisters like Nazia to keep a roof over her head and will mean her children don’t go hungry.
“HHUGS came and picked me up at a time when I really thought I would end up sitting outside a branch of Tesco begging. Once I left the hostel, I feared I would wind up homeless and it was exactly then when HHUGS came and stood by me with the support I needed. Their support means I can keep a roof over my head, pay my council tax and cover my grocery expenses with monthly shopping vouchers. If you truly want to store great reward for your hereafter, come together to support HHUGS in every way you possibly can."
HHUGS is the only UK registered charity currently supporting over 225 families – that’s more than 700 individuals – impacted by national security measures. Every penny raised in taking part in this challenge will allow us to support some of the most isolated families in the UK, vulnerable women, children and the elderly, who have been ostracised and stigmatised by society.
With their husbands in prison, these women face social isolation and financial hardships, as they struggle desperately to provide for their children. With no one to rely on but Allah, they are the Hajars living in our midst, unknown, unnoticed and often shunned.
The pandemic is still fresh in our minds. The difficulty we all felt during the strictest version of lockdown is an isolation and pain these mothers know all too well. Yet as we remained safe in our homes with our loved ones, these women still struggle alone in the absence of a husband, father and often community too. For them, social distancing is not a temporary measure as their husbands face a permanent lockdown. As well as the emotional impact of this, families are left in great financial uncertainty too.
This Dhul Hijjah, your Sadaqah need not travel far to lift a mother and her children out of distress.
Help me smash my target today in the best days of the year, days greater in virtue than even the days of Ramadhan!
"There are no days in which righteous deeds are more beloved to Allah than these ten days" (Dhul Hijjah).” [Sunan Ibn Majah]
With your help, we can heal HHUGS families during the best 10 days of the year. We can honour Hajar (ra) by supporting our sisters who walk in her footsteps.
May Allah reward you for your generous support - and may the best man win! Ameen
