When you see her, waiting at the school gates, she looks like any other Muslim mother. Hijab neatly wrapped, a long coat to keep herself warm. But her story isn’t the same as the others.
Her husband is missing. For her children, it’s their father. He’s in his cell, and they’re at home. It has changed all of their lives forever.
They navigate each day with quiet strength, but they cannot face the harshness of winter alone. Their heating stays off most days, and every night they wonder how long they can keep warm.
Although their plight may be unique, their story isn’t one we
cannot resonate with. After all, they are part of you.
