Your generosity delivered in time for Ramadhan
In the twilight of a Ramadan evening, a figure emerges, carrying a basket of blessings – our Ramadhan Gift Box. A package with one mission – to revive hope and the sacred season’s spirit.
With each step, the stranger navigates the neighbourhood alleys, guided by your generosity. Behind every door lies a story, a struggle, and a silent prayer. As the door opens quietly, and the package is received, a token of love is delivered.
In a simple exchange of a package, there’s a deeper connection made. It’s a stranger delivering your generosity, your good deed.
In the lead up to Ramadhan, you generously donated and allowed us to provide Ramadhan Gift Boxes to 570 individuals, helping them prepare for the holy month. The box contained various items ranging from sunnah items such as Palestinian dates, to open their fasts, to organic honey.
“We wait each year for the box, and when it comes and my kids see it and laugh and scream with happiness and excitement. We all open it together. It’s one of the most beautiful gestures someone can do for us. May Allah bless everyone who has had worked for the HHUGS family.”
“I feel supported at a time of weakness, to know that there are people from the ummah of the Prophet (saw) who are willing to help those in need.”
We’re reminded of the importance of giving in the Qur’an, and the reward of it. “The example of those who spend their wealth in the way of Allah is like a seed [of grain] which grows seven spikes; in each spike is a hundred grains. And Allah multiplies [His reward] for whom He wills” (Qur’an, 2:261).
For many, the act of receiving a gift from a stranger during Ramadhan goes beyond material value. It serves as a reminder of Allah’s mercy and providence. It instills a sense of hope and reassurance, especially for families grappling with financial difficulties and the absence of a loved one.
“Alhamdulillah, Allah made our life easy through HHUGS help. JazakAllahu khairan.”
“It’s a reminder that someone cares about you. When you’re experiencing struggles in life, the Ramadhan gift box brings a smile to everyone’s face and makes us remember that Allah is always sending us people to help uplift us in our time of need.
“May Allah accept all your efforts and continue to bless the work of HHUGS, its staff, and supporters. Ameen.”
Although we often give gifts to people we know and love, giving gifts to strangers can also increase your affection for one another.
The Prophet (saw) says: “Give gifts, for indeed, giving increases your affection for one another” (Bukhari and Muslim).
It serves as a reminder that HHUGS families although isolated, are remembered from the members of the Ummah.
“It is always good to have support in Ramadhan, especially if you do not have anyone else. The hamper is a reminder you’re not alone and provides some treats at the start of Ramadhan.”
The box contained uniquely sourced items to help get in the Ramadhan spirit such as chocolate Ramadhan advent calendars and Islamic board games.
“You guys always send the best boxes, full of beautiful things, that makes us happy so I wouldn’t change anything.”
“Everything (was) very nice – the dates, and honey. It was all beautiful.”
Whilst the Ramadhan Gift Box helped prepare for the month, there’s still an opportunity to help them throughout the month and beyond. You’ve read first-hand the impact you’ve had with your generosity, so why stop there?
“HHUGS is my second family. They’ve been there for me through some of the darkest of times. To families who are in similar situations, don’t feel shy to reach out, HHUGS is a supportive community.”
You didn’t only help them prep for Ramadhan with gifts, but also with food to help them through the month. Because of your generosity, we distributed food packs to a total of 65 households, covering 251 individuals.
Continue to support throughout the month of Ramadhan. Seize the opportunity to help families right here in the UK and multiply your rewards.
