Ingleton Waterfall Trek
This Winter, get lost with us in the beautiful countryside, surrounded by woodland and six striking waterfalls. Be a Winter Wanderer and join us for a sisters-only day out to Ingleton Waterfalls Trail. Welcome the cold season, by invigorating your body with the crisp Yorkshire Dale air as you trek the 4.5 mile circular route, admiring stunning landscape, magnificent waterfalls, and luscious woodland; all whilst making a difference to the lives of some of the most neglected families in the UK.
Walk through woodland along the bank of the River Twiss, and find yourself at Pecca Falls. The River Twiss drops and gushes an incredible 30 metres; bubbling below the surface are plunge pools which are estimated to be as deep as the falls themselves.
After Pecca falls you will find Hollybush Spout, here the River Twiss flows around a corner and into a pool feeding the top of the Pecca Falls. Then you will find the main attraction of the trek; Thornton Force. It is the most impressive waterfall as the water plunges 14 metres.
Following the River Doe, Beezley Falls consist of the first waterfall, followed by the Triple Spout; which has formed three waterfalls side by side. An incredible view to see! Following Beezley Falls you will spot Rival Falls, with a plunge pool which is estimated to be 80ft deep.
To spot the final falls on the trail, you’ll need to look back. From a viewing area, you can peep through the trees to see the Snow Falls. A perfect ending to a majestic landscape.
The Winter Wanderer Trek will provide you and your loved ones with an opportunity to support vulnerable families in the UK, who often have few people to walk alongside them.
Whether you choose to board our minibus, or prefer to make your own way, join us as we head down out Ingleton Falls and immerse ourselves gushing waterfalls and woodland.
The process is simple; all you have to do is sign up and start fundraising for some of the most isolated families in our midst. Each step you take will uplift and smooth the path for those often forgotten in our community.

How much do I have to raise?
We request everyone fundraises a minimum of £150. Participants must ensure they raise at least 75% of the minimum fundraising target before the event date. Failure to make sufficient efforts to raise 75% of your target may mean that your place is offered to another participant, as transport will be limited. This is to ensure that we are fair to all participants who have made the effort to surpass their target.
Are there any age restrictions?
Due to the nature of the walk, there is an age restriction of 10 years+. Anyone under 18 must be accompanied by an adult or guardian. Parents should take full responsibility for any children brought on the hike. We rely on the parents’ discretion in reviewing the route and ascertaining whether the duration of the walk is something that their children will be able to complete.
Do I need to bring anything else?
Bring snacks – the trail is long and a lot of it is uphill so you’ll burn plenty of calories on the route. Bring snacks to refuel on your journey, or take advantage of one of the many picnic areas on the trail. High protein snacks are great to keep you going, especially cereal bars. But be sure to take your rubbish away with you, there are no bins on the route.
Make sure you bring plenty of water as the whole walk will take several hours so you’ll want to stay hydrated.
Other hiking essentials include:
- Rucksack – reliable, waterproof and lightweight with multiple sections you can easily pack items.
- Trainers – keep these in the minibus if you can. Your boots are likely to be muddy post-hike so you’ll want something clean to change into!
- Carrier bag – to put your muddy boots in!
- Reusable water bottle – stainless steel ones can keep your water cool for hours!
- Power Bank if you have one
- Gloves
Whistle – useful in cases of emergencies!
What should I wear?
Anything you find comfortable and warm. Waterproof hiking boots are strongly recommended depending on weather. You are advised to also bring waterproof clothing such as a light wind and rain proof waterproof jacket which you can fold into your rucksack. You may wish to wear waterproof trousers. We would recommend you invest in a good pair of walking socks to ensure your feet was well padded to prevent your hiking boots from rubbing. Keep a spare bag in case you get muddy. A hat can also help ward off the winter chill. You may wish to wear a face mask.
I haven’t fundraised before, where do I start?
There are many ways to fundraise and when you sign up, we will give you great ideas and we are always at hand to give you further support.
Don’t be put off by high targets or numbers that seem impossible to reach. Aim big and you will always surpass your expectations. Whatever is done sincerely for the sake of Allah is always blessed, whether you raise £150 or £10,000!
On a practical level, if £150 seems daunting at first, just break it down as getting 15 friends to donate £10.
Many of our fundraisers had no prior fundraising experience and doubted they could raise £150, but within just 48 hours of launching their page, they went on to raise £1000 each.
The simplest method is through a crowd funding page on our leaderboard which will automatically be created when you register to collect your funds.
We’re on hand to support and encourage you at every stage, and if you’re not a confident wordsmith, we can provide template messages for you to share if you’re short of ideas.
Remember to use all means at your disposal to share your page – WhatsApp, Instagram, Snapchat, Facebook, Twitter, Telegram, Tiktok and SMS. Some fundraisers even made videos to encourage people, and got their parents and children to compete with them in the process!
Whether you’re a novice or an experienced fundraiser, this method is tried and tested.
If you’re not so social media savvy and prefer more traditional methods, the good thing is, there are so many ways to raise funds!

What if I don’t reach my target?
We’re confident with a bit of effort and with the help of Allah, you’ll easily reach your goals. We know from past experience, that our supporters have achieved great feats and surpassed their expectations.
When you purify your intention, make the effort, say Bismillah and make du’a that Allah blesses your efforts – then you cannot go wrong, no matter what the outcome.
“Whoever intends to perform a good deed but does not do it, Allah will record it as a complete good deed.” (Bukhari, Muslim)
What’s in it for me?
The Ingleton Waterfalls Trail provides the perfect opportunity for you to meet up with friends, family and loved ones and enjoy a great Winter’s day out! If you’ve been feeling lazy, now’s the time to start working those muscles! Physical activity not only keeps our bodies healthy but it boosts our mood, alleviates depression and improves our cognitive function.
If that wasn’t enough of a reason, every day, charity is due on each of our joints. Charity is not a burden or obligation on us, it is a privilege and a responsibility. When we have been blessed by Allah, the best way to show gratitude to Him is by using those same blessings to help others.
Charity invites untold blessings into your own life and protects you from so many hardships you weren’t even aware you were saved from. Allah loves those who serves others so rowing to relieving the burdens of the brothers and sisters right on our doorstep.
You may not have huge sums of money to give, but this challenge provides a golden opportunity for any individual to make a difference – whether you’re blessed with disposable income or otherwise.
What is also amazing about fundraising is that you’ll be rewarded for whatever your friends donate, without decreasing in their reward in the least.
“Whoever guides someone to virtue will be rewarded equivalent to him who practices that good action.” (Bukhari).
What happens to the money I raise?
HHUGS is the only UK registered charity currently supporting over 225 families – that’s more than 740 individuals – impacted by national security measures. Every penny raised in taking part in this challenge will allow us to support some of the most isolated families in the UK, vulnerable women, children and the elderly, who have been ostracised and stigmatised by society.
