On behalf of all the families we support, the trustees, staff and volunteers at HHUGS, we wish you and your family an Eid filled with joy, happiness, peace and prosperity.

TaqabbalAllahu minna wa minkum. May Allah (SWT) accept our prayers, fasting and charity, forgive our shortcomings and allow us to see another Ramadhan.  Ameen

This Ramadhan has been unlike any other. We were unable to congregate for prayer, to break fast communally and to greet each other in the mosque. However, as the days passed we grew accustomed to how Ramadhan was unfolding. We focused on strengthening our relationship with our creator within our own homes, we were reminded of the blessings we have, and could appreciate our loved ones – even if only from a distance.  We were taught the importance of kindness, of supporting others in need; families on the fringe of society, often isolated and shunned by their local communities. These families who were struggling to survive and find solace this Ramadhan amidst a pandemic.

JazaakumAllahu khaira for your support this Ramadhan. We are overwhelmed by your generosity.  Many of us were feeling the pinch during this uncertain time, yet you still dug deep to support HHUGS and our families.  Your donations, no matter how great or small, had an immense impact on these families. Thanks to you, within these households today on Eid, laughter will fill homes, as they open Eid gifts from you. Single mothers cry tears of joy as they see a smile planted on their children’s faces.  They are reminded that there are people out there who care, that they are not alone and feel valued.

“Alhamdulilah HHUGS have been a real family for me and my son as we are alone without our family. Every time we received a something from you, my son and I have been really happy and thankful. It has been really lovely to see that you thought about us. Jazakumullah khayr.”

We also would like to express our immense gratitude to the fundraisers in our Race to Jannah campaign, enabling us to raise a record total of £184,855 to help the vulnerable in our community this Eid and beyond! Due to your efforts, our families have been empowered, their hearts filled with gratitude as our community has proven, through working together, that our forgotten families can feel valued once more:

“BarakAllah feekum, honestly, whenever Eid comes, the only thing that makes us feel this special day (apart from the salah) is the gift from HHUGS, the brothers and sisters and what they do!”

During this blessed month, you were their solace and hope.

And in the words of one of the children, who composed this unsolicited poem to show her appreciation of your efforts:

We pray that Allah causes these deeds to be a light and intercessor for you on a Day that will be filled with darkness, making heavy your scale of deeds and being the means of you entering Jannatul-Firdaws, Ameen.

Eid is not for the one who wears new clothes. Eid is for the one whose obedience rises.” (Ibn Rajab)
