“The first time I heard of Hhugs was from Wendy Khadijah. I did not know anything about them although Ann Alexander (of Scotland Against Criminalising Communities) had written to tell me of Hhugs but I didn’t receive her letter in prison. When Wendy Khadijah received a letter from me when I was released under control orders, she phoned Hhugs and gave them my address. Hhugs then wrote to me and offered me their help.

They offered to install a landline for me as I wasn’t allowed to use a call box or mobile phone and had not been able to contact my mum in over 6 months. I was not allowed to write to her so she was very worried about me and I was so sad. I now have a landline and it has made my mum very happy to hear from me again after all this time. One of the sisters from Hhugs phoned me too and offered any help I need.

Two weeks ago, Hhugs sent me a parcel with 60 Islamic tapes, cds and books and I am very grateful to them for this as I spent most of the day on my own and I can now listen to these tapes.

They are very kind people and I know they help many Muslim brothers in the same situation as me. I want to thank them so much for their help to me as they have made me happy.”
