For adrenaline junkies, it doesn’t get better than this. HHUGS presents its most daring challenge yet as we ask you to take on the highest possible tandem jump altitude in the UK!

With almost a full minute of freefall time, you have plenty of time to truly absorb and appreciate your breathtaking experience.

As you fall through the air, feeling the exhilarating rush of reaching speeds of 125 mph, you will be doing it safe in the knowledge that your efforts will be providing support to some of the most vulnerable families in the UK.

Address: Old Sarum Park, Old Sarum, Salisbury SP4 6EB. Transport provided from London (other areas possible if there is a demand for it.)

Training provided on the day.

Tandem Skydive jump is a type of skydiving where a student skydiver is connected to a harness attached to a tandem instructor. The instructor guides the student through the whole jump from exit through freefall, piloting the canopy, and landing.

About HHUGS

Your efforts in fundraising and this challenge will allow us to support some of the most isolated families in the UK - vulnerable women, children and the elderly, who have been ostracised and stigmatised by society. HHUGS is the only registered charity currently supporting 190 families – almost 700 individuals – affected by the arrest of a loved one due to anti-terror legislation.

No. Please be on time at the designated meeting points. The minibus will leave at the scheduled times. Please consider leaving slightly earlier than normal to allow for delays.

Are there any age restrictions?

Our oldest jumper to date was 95 years old - so age isn't a boundary for us if it isn't for you. As long as you are reasonably fit and healthy then you should be OK to tandem skydive with us. On the day you'll need to declare your fitness by signing a declaration form. You can view the form here.

You need to be at least 16 to do a tandem skydive, if you are aged between 16 and 18 you will need a parent or legal guardian to sign to give their consent. Download the form to be signed.

Are there any weight restrictions?

Weight-wise 15 stone or under is the general rule but if you're reasonably fit and under 18 stone we are happy for you to jump with us. However, just like every other jumper you will be assessed by a highly qualified tandem master on the day of your jump, should he have any concerns about your ability to manoeuvre into any of the required skydiving positions you will not be able to jump. Due to higher operational costs there is a charge for any weight in excess of 15 stone. 15-16 stone £10, 16-17 stone additional £20, 17-18 stone additional £30.

Are there any height restrictions?

No

Will breakfast, lunch and dinner be provided?

Breakfast will be provided on the morning of Saturday 30th June. Old Sarum Airfield provides plenty of free on-site parking, and has a café on-site serving hot and cold food, with lots of seating inside and picnic benches outside.

What should I wear?

We'll supply you with a jumpsuit, goggles and a leather hat for your tandem skydive. In addition you'll need to wear trainers or similar sturdy footwear and comfortable clothes. If you are jumping outside of the high summer months or it's a cool day ensure wearing some nice warm layers and some gloves.

When Do We Return Home?

We aim to return home around 5pm.

Here are a few tips:

A great way to start fundraising is to set up an online sponsorship page which you can share with your contacts on Facebook, Twitter, SMS, E-mail, WhatsApp, Telegram broadcasts etc.

Fundraising pages are just like paper sponsorship forms, except they’re online, so you don’t have to worry about dealing with cash, cheques and chasing sponsors after the event is finished. Or why not create your own fundraising team to help you spread the word!.

To create your page:
visit www.justgiving.com or www.btplc.com or www.charitychoice.co.uk. Click on Make Your Page. Search and select HHUGS. Follow the simple step-by-step instructions. Share it with others easily via email, text,Twitter,Facebook.
  • Why not set up a text code too so that your friends and family can donate towards your walk with a simple SMS! Follow this link for instructions Setting Up Your Text Code. Once you have made your page don’t forget to send us the link by emailing fundraising@hhugs.org.uk· Contact your local mosque or circle to support you by making an announcement of the event and help you to fundraise.
  • Get your fundraising matched by a colleague, workplace or friend·
  • Distribute leaflets to raise awareness amongst family and friends·
  • Contact your local press and radio stations with your fundraising·
  • Visit your local businesses for their support by asking them to sponsor you·
  • We will send you a Charity Collection Penny Box which you can place at home or work and even at the till of a shop, restaurant, café or library.
  • Get your ISOC, School, Scouts groups and others to get involved.·
  • Use our Sponsorship Form to help you raise funds·
  • Use Facebook to promote your walk, through status updates, posting photos during the walk, making videos, sending messages and creating groups and event pages to encourage others to attend!
Gift Aid:

UK tax payers can make their donation go further. The government will give a further 25% of your donation to the charity, and it doesn’t cost you or your sponsors a thing. So remind all your tax paying sponsors to tick the gift aid box – this includes those who are giving cash or cheques, if they are using the sponsorship form. Without a declaration we won’t be able to claim the Gift Aid on donations towards your sponsorship!
